Obituary of Vernon Ray Treece
Vernon Ray Treece, 73, of Windsor, Missouri passed away Saturday afternoon, June 18, 2022 at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was born August 19, 1948 in Higginsville, Mo., the son of William Emmitt Treece and Elsie Marie (Emerick) Treece. He married Brenda Kay Himes on September 24, 1977 in Windsor, Mo. She survives of the home. Vernon was employed with the city of Windsor as a street supervisor. Earlier in life he was a mechanic with Younts Garage and also a truck driver. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Rich. During his service he was part of the recovery team for the Apollo 10 mission. He was a member of the American Legion in Windsor. In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Lance Treece (Mandy), Wheaton, Mo., and Michael Treece (Jacque), Lincoln, Mo.; two daughters, Misty Lutjen (Mike), Windsor, Mo., and Jessica Hill (Jerry), Coal, Mo.; five grandchildren; two sisters, Jeana Eckhoff (Thomas), Cole Camp, Mo., and Billie Wheeler (Gene), Elsberry, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Chad Robert Treece; the mother of his sons, Norma Sierks. Vernon’s wishes were to be cremated. A Celebration of Life will at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at the Windsor American Legion Hall, Post 82, 10341 MO-52, Windsor, Mo., 65360. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
