Obituary of Donald C. Gann

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donald C. Gann, our loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Don, 94, formerly of Urich and Windsor, Mo., passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, March 23, 2022, surrounded by family, at the Crown Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Harrisonville. He was born December 10, 1927 in Charity, Mo., the son of Claude Gann and Nora (Harmon) Gann. Don married Doris Evelyn Shoemaker on August 10, 1948 in Bolivar, Mo. She survives of the home. He was a longtime building contractor. He was very instrumental in laying the block at Whiteman Air Force Base in Knob Noster, Mo. He also operated a dairy farm, built cabinets, remodeled numerous homes for people, and enjoyed coon hunting. He was a man of many talents. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Coast Guard-Merchant Marines, receiving the Honorable Service Button and the Merchant Marine Emblem. In addition to his wife, surviving are one son, Gene Gann (Michelle), Clinton, Mo.; one daughter, Debbie Salmon (Paul), Creighton, Mo.; five grandchildren, Jesse Gann (Casey), Clinton, Mo., Dawn Anstine (Jeremy), Holden, Mo., Carrie Mueller, Creighton, Mo., Scott Salmon (Cora), state of Florida, and Ashley Kelsay (Joe), Creighton, Mo.; eleven great-grandchildren, Landon Stamper, Alexa Anstine, Tucker Anstine, Allie Anstine, Joslyn Mueller, Callen Mueller, Cable Salmon, Croix Salmon, Evelyn Kelsay, Iris Kelsay and Ada May Kelsay; three sisters, Dottie Jean Ramsey (Dean), Independence, Mo., Dorothy Whetsten, Buffalo, Mo., and Diana Coffelt (Dusty), Chestnut Ridge, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kathryn Sue Gann; two sisters, Veldarene Gann and Betty Jane Gann; and one brother, Harmon Dale Gann. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 p.m. just prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in the Gann Cemetery, Conway, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
