Obituary of Gary B. George

Gary Bruce George, age 79, was born on March 27, 1942 in Detroit Michigan. He passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at Clinton Rehab Center in Clinton, MO surrounded by his family. Gary graduated from high school and thereafter joined the Air Force and served in Vietnam for one tour before being discharged. As Johnny Cash sings in his song “I’ve Been Everywhere Man,” Gary was quite the traveler, living for a time in several states including Michigan, Texas, and Tennessee before making his way to Blairstown, MO where he met and married Theresa Ann Nanneman on September 1st, 1990. Gary held many sales positions throughout his life including at Ready Motors and most recently at Wilder RV where he retired in April of 2017. He was quite the salesman and customers would come back years later to trade or upgrade their campers and to this day customers will call looking for Gary George. Gary loved being on the farm and trying new things. You never knew what animal would be showing up at the farm or what you’d see him driving around town with. His sons Caleb and Matthew recalled one of their most embarrassing moments as kids was when their Dad loaded up the goats in the back of the station wagon to take them to town. The boys would lay down and hide in the seat so no one would know they were in the car with the crazy guy in the goat mobile. The list of animals they had living at the farm was endless. From the goats to ducks, pigs, guineas, emus, and horses they had quite the funny farm. Gary was also known for his cooking. He loved to cook and you never knew what Gary concoction he was cooking up or what exactly it was that he sat down in front of you at the table. You also knew that if Gary was home, you’d be sitting together at the table with candles lit in the center. He loved coffee, unsweet tea, and pie. Gary didn’t know a stranger and enjoyed spending time at the Eagles Lodge 3667 in Clinton. At one time he was a part of the Henry County Fair board. He loved being outside. You could often find him sitting on a front porch with a cup of coffee in his hand and a newspaper. He loved a good story and people could often sit and listen to him tell stories about his life for hours. He’d been pretty well everywhere and could tell you stories about each of his kids and the various places he had traveled throughout the years. He was proud of all of his kids and grandkids and loved each of them very much. Gary is survived by his wife Theresa of Blairstown, Missouri. Daughter Lorinda Daniels and husband Ronnie of Lebanon, Tennessee; son Carl George and wife Cara of Pensacola, Florida; son Bruce George and spouse of Texas; son Matthew and wife Jenna of Adrian, Missouri and son Caleb of Blairstown, Missouri. Step sons Wade Greufe and wife Gina of Holden, Missouri, John Greufe of Clinton, Missouri and Nick Greufe and wife Katie of St. Louis, Missouri; Grandkids including: Alexa, Jesse, Hope, Jemma, Gracelynn, Beau, Vivienne, Eleanor, Grant, Gibson, and twins on the way. Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., just prior to the memorial service.
