Obituary of Denise K. Mahurin
Denise Mahurin passed away on February 8, 2022. She was surrounded by her children whom she loved. She was born May 7, 1955 to Clara and Ammon Lockling in Kansas City, Mo. She spent her younger years in Lenexa, Ks where she had many fond memories, and much of her life was spent in the Kansas City area where she raised her children, as well as Lake of the Ozarks area. She loved the serenity that the lake and country offered, and these were her favorite places to spend her time. Denise had a free-spirited soul and had a passion for art and decoration. Music and guitar was also something she held very dear. After her children had grown and her parents passed, she took brave steps to achieve her Certification as a Medical Assistant. With this, she cared for many elderly patients with the care and compassion of a loved one. Her beloved dog and companion, Walker, assisted her in this work. She had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make you laugh. If you ever had a tear or worry, she would be there to comfort you. She loved her children dearly. She would have given them the world, had she learned to harness this life on earth. Despite her challenges in life, her heart was full of love, especially for her children. She worried for them, rooted for them, wanted to protect them, always forgave them, and always, always kept on loving them. In her words, “While I have very little in monetary assets, I am rich because I have my children. I live on through them and because of them I live.” Denise was predeceased by her parents, her son Alma and her sister Sherri. She is survived by her children Ammon, Amanda and Karissa and sister Donna, as well as her companion Kurt Martin. Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2022 at the Englewood Cemetery.
