Obituary of Jon M. Olson
Jon Merrill Olson, the son of Merrill A. and Ruth Jane (Wilson) Olson was born February 27, 1936, in Red Oak, Iowa. He passed away on February 5, 2022, after battling stage IV colon cancer. He was a resident of Windsor Health Care and Rehab, in Windsor, Missouri, for the past 5 months. He was an avid baseball enthusiast and played baseball for many years for Red Oak, Iowa. He attended the State University of Iowa where he met his bride to be, Judith Crawford. He worked as a travelling salesman in the office supply industry for the majority of his working years. He also worked for Cox Cable in Omaha, where his personality really shined, as he had a “gift of gab.” One of his hobbies was coaching the Peanuts league for Ralston Girls Softball Association. He loved being a mentor for the girls and went on to win the championship one season. He enjoyed teaching Sunday school for the junior high class at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ralston, Nebraska. Jon served on the civil service commission for the City of Ralston to interview and hire police officers. This was one of the highlights for Jon as he had a love for talking to others and was committed to improving Ralston. In Jon’s later years of retirement, he re-located to Windsor, Missouri to live near his daughter, Shari. He often entertained the nursing staff with his quick wit and clever jokes. He was never at a loss for words and always had some joke or antic to enlighten their day. Jon is survived by his daughters, Shari Bible (Steve) of Windsor, Missouri; Katie Tellez of Colleyville Texas; 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; and brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Jeanne Olson of Berkely, California. No funeral services will be held, and Jon will be buried next to his wife, Judy, in Minburn, Iowa. Bradley Hadley of Clinton, Missouri is in charge of arrangements.
