Obituary of Jimmie Dee Thuma

Jimmie Dee “Jim” Thuma, 82, of Clinton, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday morning, August 5, 2020. He was born March 15, 1938 in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the son of Donald J. Thuma and Myrtle (Lewis) Thuma. He married Jacqueline Adele Eide in Orange Park, FL on September 29, 1983. She survives of the home. Jim graduated from Wichita East High School in Wichita, Kansas. Following graduation he enlisted into the United States Navy. He served during the Cuban Crisis, the Vietnam War, and the Lebanon Crisis as an Avionics Master Chief on the USS Independence and the USS Eisenhower. Jim served his country a total of 31 years and was discharged at Cecil Field, Florida. After his military service he worked with the United States Customs Drug Interdiction Program for several years. Following his resignation from the United States Customs, he and Jacque moved to Clinton, MO, where he enjoyed fishing and being a very active member in the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post 1894, Clinton. Jim was a proud life member of the Clinton post. He truly enjoyed working in the VFW kitchen. Jim served as Bingo chairman, past Post Commander, and served as Honor Guard Chairman for over 15 years. In addition to his wife, surviving are four daughters, Debra (Gary) McDaniel, Laurie Luke, Jacqueline Sue (Bryce) Mullins, Alexandra (Andy) Cason, all of northern Florida; one son, Mark Allen Gipson, Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Thuma, Hartford, Kansas; one faithful dog, Daisy Kitty; and five feline friends, Spooky Do, Sweetie, Slippers, Tinker and Emma. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Marlene (Seitsinger) Thuma. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Military honors will be presented by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1894, Clinton. Services will be streamed live at the time of the service from Jim's Tribute Page at www.bradleyhadley.com. Interment will be at a later date in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, Florida.
