Obituary of David A. Andes, Sr.

David A. Andes, Sr., 65, of rural Deepwater, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 29, 2020. He was born in Independence, Mo., the son of Delman V. Andes and Ruth E. (Taylor) Andes. He lived in Independence throughout his childhood, attending Truman High School before moving north of Warsaw, Mo., for his senior year, graduating from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Mo., in 1972. This is where he met his future wife, Velda Gunn. They were married May 25, 1974 in Lincoln. She survives of the home. David accepted Christ as a teenager and was a regular and longtime attendee of First Baptist Church in Lowry City, Mo. He went into the carpentry profession after high school, mostly in the Warsaw area, later moving to Lee’s Summit, Mo. He then worked for R. B. Rice Sausage Company for five years until their closing. During these years he became a father to one son, David, Jr., and one daughter, Lacy. He went to work for Kansas City Power & Light, at the Montrose station, retiring as a pipe coverer in 2016 after 29 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, enjoyed doting on his granddaughter Molly. In addition to his wife, surviving are one son, David A. Andes, Jr., (Tara); one daughter, Lacy Burgin; one granddaughter, Molly Burgin; his father, Delman V. Andes, Liberty, Mo.; three sisters, Linda Forsythe, Gladstone, Mo., Cheryl Chappell, Chilhowee, Mo., and Kellie Griffith, Helotes, Texas; four brothers, Jerry Andes, (Becky), Jericho Springs, Mo., Darel Andes, Lincoln, Mo., Ron Andes, Goodyear, Arizona, and Brian Andes, Schaumburg, Illinois; one step-brother, Joe Cook, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Ruth and Stan Cook; and one sister, Launa Nuscis. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. To accomodate for social distancing but enable the community to join in the celebration of David's life, funeral services will be streamed live at the time of the service from David's Tribute Page at www.bradleyhadley.com. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Brownington, Mo. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the funeral service. Friends may call from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Lowry City, Mo., Wounded Warriors, or St. Jude's Children's Hospitals.
