Obituary of Anna Myrtle Hansen

Anna Myrtle Hansen, 91, of McKinney, Texas (formerly Calhoun and Clinton, Missouri) passed away peacefully at Baylor Hospital in McKinney, Texas on Wednesday, November 27, 2019 surrounded by her family.

She was born June 2, 1928, on the family farm in Henry County, Missouri, near Calhoun, the daughter of Charles Clifton Rank and Maude Blanche (Huey) Rank. She graduated from Calhoun High School in 1947. After graduation, she was employed with the Sedalia Daily Democrat newspaper and then worked for the Linstrom Hatchery in Clinton for a few years. Anna Myrtle began her banking career at the Citizens State Bank in Calhoun and spent 31 years employed there, retiring in 1990. She served in various capacities, retiring as Assistant Vice-President. She had been a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church for over 50 years where she served as treasurer for many years, was the church pianist for many years and served on various committees within the church. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1894 Auxiliary in Clinton, Mo.

On October 3, 1948, at the Baptist Church Parsonage in Warsaw, Mo., she married Charles A. (Pete) Hansen who preceded her in death on December 6, 2012.  She lived on the family farm near Calhoun for 50 years. In 2005 they sold their Century Farm having been in the family for over 100 years and moved to a home in Clinton. After Pete’s death Anna Myrtle had spent the last four years living with her daughter in McKinney, Texas.

Pete and Anna Myrtle enjoyed traveling all over the country in their motor home and have been in every state, including Hawaii. They also enjoyed a cruise to Alaska to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Anna Myrtle’s pride and joys were her family. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and had a “library” of cookbooks.

She is survived by a daughter Connie Ann Cowan, McKinney, Texas; a grandson, Homer H. "Chip" Cowan, IV, his wife Shaylyn and great- granddaughter Mahalee of Celina, Texas. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maude Rank, infant brother, Charles Dean Rank, her granddaughter, Brooke Ann Cowan and son-in-law Homer H. "Rusty" Cowan, III.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Calhoun Baptist Church in Calhoun, Mo. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, at the church. Interment will be at the Laurel Oak Cemetery in Windsor, Missouri following the service. The family suggests any memorial donations be made to the Calhoun Baptist Church and these donations may be left in care of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home.
