Obituary of Curtis O. Thompson
Curtis Orville (Tom) Thompson, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at his home in Clinton, Missouri with his loving wife, children and brother by his side. He was born in Weatherford, Texas on August 27, 1932, the son of Claude Lee Thompson and Gertrude Bell (Stults) Thompson.
Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gertrude Thompson, daughter Marcella Thompson, sisters Ruby Thompson and Margaret (Thompson) Haliman, brothers Frank, Hugh, Maurice, J.C., and Jack Thompson
Curtis married Gloria Joyce Murphy on December 22, 1950 in Weatherford, Texas and December 2018 they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. They moved to California in 1953 where he became General Manager of Barden's Pest Control Service in Orange County. When a business opportunity presented itself Curtis and Gloria moved their family to Asbury, Missouri. Through the years Curtis would move his family from Asbury to Monett and to Lincoln where Curtis became General Manager of Producer's Exchange of Lincoln and Ionia. Curtis and Gloria eventually built a house in Warsaw and enjoyed many years there until Curtis retired from the Producer's Exchange in 1992. After retiring Curtis and Gloria lived the RV life for many years traveling all over the United States until finally settling in Clinton, Missouri.
Curtis leaves his loving wife, Gloria Joyce (Murphy) Thompson, his daughters Cindy Mills, Jennifer Brown, Anne Thompson, and son Claude Thompson, sons in-law Jon Mills, Jeffrey Thompson, daughter-in-law, Lisa Thompson, brother Estes Thompson, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews many extended family members and many friends who loved him dearly.
Graveside services and interment will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019 at the Englewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, just prior to the graveside service at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
