Obituary of Norma Jean Mangum

Norma Jean Mangum, 78, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Sunday morning, March 31, 2019 at the Arbors at Glendale Gardens in Clinton.

 

She was born July 29, 1940 in Jonesboro, Arkansas, the daughter of Norman Travis Maiden and Jewell Elizabeth (Gulley) Maiden.  She married Charles Marion Gray on July 11, 1957 and he preceded her in death on May 12, 1977.  She later married John L. Mangum August 1, 1982 in Clinton, MO, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 2009.

 

Norma Jean was a member of the Methodist faith.  In 1981, she built and operated Bucksaw Point Resort on Truman Lake with John. She loved to travel, having visited Japan and Hawaii. She also enjoyed raising and showing horses, golfing, fish fry’s and shopping.  You could easily find Norma Jean sitting on her back porch enjoying a cold adult beverage with friends and family. 

 

Surviving are two sons, Chuck Gray and Kathy Shoemaker, Clinton, MO; Chris Gray and his wife Dena, Clinton, MO; and two grandsons, Dustin Gray and his wife Brooke, Clinton, MO and Charlie Gray, Kansas City, MO; one granddaughter, Brodie Gray and her fiance Dillon, Nashville, TN; one sister, Judye Rawlings and her husband Bill, St. Helens, OR; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Tammy Jane Maiden.

 

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Family interment of ashes will be at a later date.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Henry County Memory Fund, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
