Thursday, January 17, 2019Linda & Sara & Libby, It was with great sadness that we read about Clell. The world has truly lost an amazing person. We very much liked the obituary that was posted in the Daily Democrat; such a true picture of him. Will treasure many memories of working with Clell in the Clinton School System; of helping with speech contests and especially the bridge lessons! A wonderful sense of humor and impishness which was captured in your tribute. Our sympathies & prayers are with you all. Sincerely, Dale & Beth Welsh

Thursday, December 27, 2018Clell was one of the funniest and kindest men I have ever known. I am pretty sure the word "mischievous" was coined just to describe Clell. I know I will miss Clell most when the spring semester starts...I can't imagine wandering past his door without hearing his voice or getting the chance to talk about how our day is going. You have touched many, many lives, my friend, and will be greatly missed. I can only imagine the conversations you are having now and what an impish angel you must make ☺

Thursday, December 27, 2018All we leave to this world are memories. As I read here, Clell left many good ones, many happy ones. I share in those memories of Clell, and in your sorrow at his passing. In every world He's made, God's Presence is the only life, and only blessing, . Blessing to Clell. Blessing to all of you, Linda and family.

Wednesday, December 26, 2018Mr. Stephenson was one of my favorite teachers at CHS. I loved his humor and passion for teaching. Sometimes in American History lectures, you would think he lived through it with how excited he got in his stories. He was definitely one in a million. I know he and Mr. Elliot are up in Heaven, joking back and forth with each other.

Wednesday, December 26, 2018Linda & family, My friendship with Clell began on the golf course and fishing waters. I formally coached golf at Pleasant Hill and also my wife is originally from Clinton. As you know, Clell had a tremendous sense of humor so a friendly rivalry developed between us, as well as the Harrisonville coach, so laughter and jeers often showed up on the golf course. I, as well as many others, will sorely miss Clell. Sincerely Bob Flint

Sunday, December 23, 2018Clell was my best friend in high school. I lost track of Clell a few years after our graduation. After I retired I tried to locate him after almost 50 years. It took me several years but just as I was about to give up God answered my prayer. About two years ago I found Clell in Clinton. He and Linda hosted our reunion visit. I have the wonderful memory of that visit.

Friday, December 21, 2018He was my Public Speaking teacher last year. It was an honor to be in his class and to be in his presence. He told wonderful stories of his family, and always made us all laugh. We all came out of that class as better people, better students, because of him. It won't be the same without him there, he will be missed.

Friday, December 21, 2018I will miss seeing Clell in the hallways and talking with him. His joy in living was evident even when he was struggling. His humor and knowledge will be sorely missed. I have the knowledge of knowing that he had made peace with his life. He told me the last time I saw him that he knew he was ready to meet his maker. I am so very sorry for your loss because you knew him even better than those outside his family, but we, outside the family, knew that wonderful, giving person who always had a kind word. Even more, he had a reason for every kind word he said. He was so easy to love. Heaven is welcoming him with open arms. May that give you some peace.

Friday, December 21, 2018Linda and Girls. I am so very sorry for your loss. Clell was such a great guy. I was just thinking about him the other day. He helped me so much when I was a young teacher just starting out. I loved his depth and breadth of knowledge. He could talk Shakespeare as easily as he could the Chiefs or current events. I am so thankful for having known him. He was just a great guy that was always a pleasure to be around. He made such a difference with his students and he will be missed by all that knew him. He always made me smile and that is how I will always remember him. Jim Page

He was always such a friendly guy. I regret that we never got to play golf together. I know he would have kicked my behind. May God grant you peace and comfort in this time of grief.

Linda, you and the kids are in my prayers! Heaven got a new angel. What better way to spend Christmas than in God's arms! ❤️

Thursday, December 20, 2018Mr Stephenson will be missed. I remember the smile and look on his face while telling a story. I had the pleasure of being on the golf team, drama, speech and quiz bowl teams under his care. He was funny, caring and left an indelible mark on my life and the lives of many others. My favorite story of his was when he was invited to share a word in church. He said he found a big floppy Bible so he could swing it with emphasis, only to end up throwing it into the front row. That always makes me laugh when I see the visual and his rendition of it. Godspeed Big S!!
