Obituary of Earlene Oglevie

Earlene E. Oglevie, 85, of Cole Camp, Missouri passed away early Thursday morning, May 10, 2018 at the Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, MO.

She was the second of five children born to Clarence Moellman and Goldie (Schnakenberg) Moellman on July 14, 1932 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.  As a child she was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge.  She was later confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, MO.

Earlene graduated from Cole Camp High School in 1949.  After high school,  she moved to Kansas City, MO., and worked at Sears & Roebuck and Company.

She married Johnnie Youse of Sedalia, MO., in December 1954.  They had one daughter, Denise Ann.

While living in Sedalia, Earlene worked at the Town and Country Shoe Factory and Sedalia Bank and Trust.  They relocated to Cole Camp, MO, where she worked as a teller at the Citizens Farmers Bank of Cole Camp.

In August, 1987 she married Vergil Oglevie.  They enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.  He preceded her in death in 2001.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she served on the Church Council and was a member of the  Women's Bible Circle.  She was involved in her community as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Happy Homemakers.  Among her many other jobs, she also worked as a clerk for the city of Warsaw, MO, and was a teacher's aide with the Benton County R-1 School.

She served as a councilwoman on the Cole Camp City Council until her retirement just three weeks ago, completing three terms on the council.  Her greatest accomplishment with the council was the installation of new playground equipment in the city park.

In her spare time, she also enjoyed attending auctions, going to rummage sales, road trips in her Chevy HHR, and hunting Indian arrowheads with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Viebrock, Cole Camp, MO; her daughter, Denise Cover and husband Gary, Clinton, MO; six grandchildren, Cody Broaddus and wife Tasha, Clever, MO, Cassi Hilton and husband Wes, Clinton, MO, Angie Howard and husband John, Sedalia, MO, Chelsea Karle and husband Andrew, Greenwood, MO, Nic Cover and wife Brooke, Lee's Summit, MO, and Jeremy Cover and wife Kira, Lee's Summit, MO; eleven great-grandchildren, Skyler and Mason Broaddus, Madi and Logan Dick, Brady and Wade Karle, Jack and Lindy Cover, and Avery, Liam and Davis Cover; and one great-grandson (Callahan Hilton) on the way.
