Charles F. DesCombes, 89, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Friday, January 8, 2021 at his home. He was born May 15, 1931 in Leeton, Mo., the son of Jesse DesCombes and Dorothy (Gildersleeve) DesCombes. He married Dorcas Charlotte Bowman in Shawnee Mound, Mo., on June 1, 1952. She preceded him in death on November 5, 2019. Charles was a Biology and Chemistry teacher for 30 years with the Clinton School District and a longtime Vermeer dealer with DesCombes Agri Business where he thoroughly enjoyed working and visiting with the customers. He honorably served his country with the United States Navy, serving aboard the USS Boxer, among other vessals and ports. He took great pride in being Assistant to the Admiral. He was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church. Charles’ greatest enjoyment was time spent with his grandkids. Surviving are one son, Daniel DesCombes and wife Kiki, Clinton, Mo.; one daughter, Diane Bernard and husband Andrew, St. Louis, Mo.; three grandsons, Andrew Patrick Bernard and wife Emily, Bozeman, Montana, William Charles Bernard and wife Hannah, St. Louis, Mo., and Todd DesCombes and wife Tori, Clinton, Mo.; two granddaughters, Tina DesCombes, Kansas City, Mo., and Rachael Stadter, Clinton, Mo.; two great-grandsons, Rory Paul Bernard and Gunner Harvey Cope; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie Dyer; and one brother, Bill DesCombes. Private family graveside services will be at Englewood Cemetery, with military rites provided by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1894, Clinton. Friends may pay their respects and sign the guest book Monday, January 18, 2021 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton.
