Delano “Del” Seth Doles Johnson passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at St. Luke’s East Medical Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Del was born on February 10, 1933, to Armer and Lulu Mae (Eaglin) Johnson, in Ink, Missouri. He was the youngest of five brothers, Squire Deose Johnson, Armer Woodrow Johnson, Bertham Eaglin Johnson, and Charles Lebert Johnson. His life was rich with family from start to finish. Following in the footsteps of his brothers by enlisting in the military, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War for four years, then four years of reserve duty. He leaves foremost his beloved and devoted wife of 68 years, Mildred Lorene (Sutherland) Johnson. He also leaves his three adoring children, Barbara Belinda (Johnny) Houk, Bertham Delano (Heidi) Johnson, and Charles Keith (Debbie) Johnson. Del was the model grandfather, always eager to spend time with his family and irreplaceable as the tractor driver of the annual hayride. Delano was an avid outdoorsman and his love of fishing, hunting, and nature was something he passed to his children and grandchildren with sincerity and wisdom. Those grandchildren, John Seth Shumate, Lacy Belinda Wiseman, Chelsea Lauren Shumate, Spencer Onstot Johnson, Rachel Ann Pickard, Kaleena Kenney Ross, Molly Beth Johnson, and Evan Keith Johnson and their spouses Sam Wiseman, Nelly Johnson, Clint Pickard, Darin Ross and Crystal Lozano will all miss him. Del also leaves eight great grandchildren, Ella Elizabeth and Mary Alice Wiseman, Reese Lorraine Shumate, Theodore Spencer Pickard, Annabel Johnson, Danielle, Konner Zane, and Kora Emmaline Ross, Benjamin Keith Johnson, as well as his step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Del had a gentleman’s smile and candor, and was always kind and well mannered with all he met. He was bright, witty and was quick to volunteer his time in the service of the Lord; working to volunteer at the Quarles Baptist church where he and his wife Mildred were faithful members. We are secure in the knowledge that his time for heaven has come. Del was thankful and loving always to his wife, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and to his friends and relatives who will all miss him dearly. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., just prior to the funeral service. Friends may call noon to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Englewood Cemetery.
