James "Jim" Dameron

James L. "Jim" Dameron, 84, of Chilhowee, Missouri passed away early Monday morning, November 5, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, MO.


He was born August 21, 1934 in Chilhowee, MO, the son of James Arthur Dameron and Eunice Letisha (Hancock) Dameron. He married Elizabeth Jean Bancroft in Chilhowee on April 20, 1957. She survives of the home.


Jim was a lifelong farmer, raising cattle and row crop farming. He also tried his hand at tractor pulling for a few years. He was a veteran of the United States Army; a member of the Chilhowee Methodist Church for most of his life; a 1952 graduate of Chilhowee High School; formerly served on the Farmers Produce Exchange Board of Directors; and was a former Shawnee School District board member. Jim took great joy in hitting the coffee shops in and around Chilhowee and Leeton, MO.


In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, John Dameron and his wife Tammy, Chilhowee, MO, and Eric Dameron and his wife Peggy, Chilhowee, MO; two daughters, LeeAnn Martin and her husband Tony, Rocheport, MO, and Lisa Wickham and her husband Doug, Knob Noster, MO; twelve grandchildren, Aren Dameron, John Dameron, Whitney Smith and her husband Travis, Justine Johns and her husband Seth, Taryn Thornley and her husband Derek, Abbie Dameron, Mallory Hire and husband Justin, Trevor Martin and his wife Jessica, Shawn Martin, Cooper Martin and his wife Jessica, Caleb Wickham and Dylan Wickham; eight great-grandchildren, Maverick, Tyson, Sydney, Luke, Alma, Eleanor, Henry and Weston; one sister, Mary Belle Rowland and her husband Paul, Warrensburg, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by his parents.


Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Chilhowee Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date in Carpenter Cemetery, Chilhowee, MO. The family suggests memorial contributions to Carpenter Cemetery or the Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg, MO, and these donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
