A Death Certificate is filed and registered with the state in which the person died for every death. Before the business and legal issues of the estate can be pursued, it is usually necessary to obtain certified copies of the Death Certificate. You can order them through our funeral home or directly from the Local or State Registrar of Vital Statistics. Some agencies (banks, insurance companies, license bureaus, utilities, etc.) will only accept certified copies of the Death Certificate and not a photocopy. However, ask each entity what they require in the event they might accept a photocopy.

Currently, the State of Missouri charges $13 for the first certified copy and $10 for additional certified copy each time you order certified copies of a death certificate.
