Obituary of Larry Seal
Larry J. Seal, 64, of Clinton, Missouri died peacefully Saturday morning, July 29, 2017 at the Westwood Living Center in Clinton.
He was born September 18, 1952 in Murphysboro, Illinois, the son of Alfred Warren Seal and Patricia E. (Cochran) Seal. He married Mary E. Koch in Johnson County, Kansas on October 6, 2001, and she survives of the home.
Larry was employed as Director of Buildings and Grounds with the Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) in Kansas City, Ks. He retired in 2010 after twenty-four years of service. During his time there he inspired great loyalty and confidence in those he worked with. Under his leadership, KCKCC earned a BPU Award For Energy Efficiency for the college's 23% reduction of energy use.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy. He enjoyed his volunteer work with Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, going above and beyond to help the patients and their families.
Larry was accepted with love and joy into Mary's family, including Mary's mother, Marie Aalma Weber, Mary's four sisters and three brothers, their spouses and children.
A few of Larry's hobbies enjoyed with Mary were bike riding, boating, fishing, walking and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his adoring wife Mary, he is survived by his step-daughter, Katie Hooks, Overland Park, Ks.; step-son, Christopher Koch and wife Ellen, Lee's Summit, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jasmyne, T.J., Taelynn, and Theo; one sister, Patty Westerfield, Bossier City, Louisiana; nephew, Johnny Westerfield and wife Jena, Bossier City, La.; great-nephew, Damien Westerfield, Bossier City, La.; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; their spouses; and many additional nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Larry will be scheduled for October in Kansas City, Mo. Flowers are welcome. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton. Condolences may be left online at www.bradleyhadley.com.
