Obituary of Marjorie Melling

Marjorie L. Melling, 92, of Clinton, Missouri died Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Jefferson Gardens-Assisted Living Center in Clinton.

She was born November 1, 1924 in Osborn, Mo., the daughter of John Michael Kelly and Ada Mary (Buck) Kelly.

Marjorie married Charles Melling on August 8, 1948 in Kidder, Mo., and he survives of the home.

She was employed as a claim clerical supervisor with American Mutual Liability Insurance Company for nine years, and later was with the Missouri Division of Family Services as a secretary and receptionist for thirteen years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Golden Valley Christian Church, and for over sixty years, the East Gate Chapter No. 367, Order of Eastern Star, where she served as an officer.  She is a graduate of the Maysville High School, Maysville, Mo.  She enjoyed traveling and reading.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Marsha Gwen Stanton and husband Brian, Denton, Texas; two grandchildren, Erin Leigh Stanton, Lewisville, Texas, and Micah John Melling, Kansas City, Mo.; one niece; and several nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mark Lynn Melling on April 21, 2011; and one brother, John Darrel "JD" Kelly.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Bradley & Hadley Funeral Home, Clinton, Mo.  The family will receive friends from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. just prior the funeral service.  Graveside service and interment will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday  in the Kidder Cemetery, Kidder, Mo.  Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Golden Valley Christian Church, Twin Lakes Hospice, or the Clinton Senior Center.  These donations may be left in care of the funeral home.
